It always amazes me, it seems each week there is a new benefit of yoga, new research that adds to the great things we can experience in our lives when practicing either yoga or meditation.
After all...that is the reason we started our Yoga Success website in the first place - there is so much benefit being experienced by many of us who practice yoga and/or meditation it became obvious we needed a place to share our passion and findings.
Just this week we found out about another benefit of yoga when improvements in a heart condition called metabolic syndrome were discovered. In this article from the Heart and Stroke foundation, some rather dramatic improvements in health were experienced from a group that practiced daily yoga over a group that received normal medical attention.
When we think of exercise to improve the heart we typically think of cardiovascular exercise such as running, swimming, aerobics or other exercises that significantly give our heart a workout - but it seems that activity such as yoga provide it's own benefits to the heart, certainly worthy of more study.
